New Hamburg Hub Clothing chief Grover Farley takes over

Grover Farley buys the Hub Clothing store from Rees and becomes full owner. Rees, in the draft, sells after many years building a steady trade. Farley is a Hamburg native with prior experience in Mincer Smalley and Bloom Shoe stores and later ran a fruit business. Community notes include barber shop moves, local Red Cross fundraising, and town updates.

Light Primary Vote Shows Sparse County Turnout

The county's primary vote was light with only 1,234 ballots cast as farmers remained busy in the fields. Republicans nominate J. W. Dilts for Representative and A. J. Jorgi for Sheriff, while Democrats name C. E. Holloway for Representative and Pryor Rucker for Sheriff among others. Local charity drives organize hospital support for Des Moines troops, with W. G. T. U. volunteers at J. F. Riedy hardware to collect donations.

Local Teacher Weds Army Officer in California Ceremony

Miss McCartney, who taught in the schools here this past year, married Herbert Fiden last Saturday in San Diego California. Fiden formerly lived in Sidney but is now in the army.
