Experiments With Acetylene Endangers Youth In Hamburg

A 14 year old, Joe Reynolds, son of Charley Reynolds, suffered severe injuries in an acetylene accident at his home on BD Street last Sunday. He touched a can of the fluid during a so called experiment, causing head lacerations, broken fingers, facial cuts, and possible concussion. Dr Sperry treated him, but he remains unconscious with signs of gradual improvement.

Cockerels For Sale at Natural Grove Poultry Farm

A number of standard bred cockerels from double mating pens for sale at a reasonable price. Proprietor John Rosseau of Natural Grove Poultry Farm hosts an event at Sidney with county officials described as court house rats, now called county officials, and guests felt at home.

Cupid Gets Busy Again

Miss Essie Hydinger wed Mr. Merritt McNeal at the Hydinger home on Thanksgiving Day with Dr Buriff performing the ceremony in a small gathering including Minawska club members. The couple departed by southbound train amid showers of congratulations and rice. Also noted is Miss Mary Yager leaving Hamburg to marry Mr Abshire in Omaha and reside with his Oregon home. Samuel F P Graham and Hveline Scott of Fremont County Iowa received a marriage license in the county judge's office and plan to wed in Nebraska City. Local business men Carl Tow and Perry VanMeter opened a real estate office in Holmes block. A mutual telephone line is planned for Knox, and dyke work at the slough mouth is suspended due to rains. Benny Clayton, Perry VanMeter, Sam Willard, and Willard James returned from a Texas land trip with purchases.

Hamburg Clerk Faces Harsh Customer Reply

A clerk in a leading Hamburg store faced rebuke after a caller recounted an incident. He told a lady customer asking for rolled oats they were out and suggested alternatives. The same clerk later offered sand paper or fill paper as substitutes for toilet paper.

Rosseans Chikens Take Five Prizes At Tarkio Poultry Meet

The Atchison County Poultry Association annual show in Tarkio November 21 to 25 drew record entries headed by Barred Rocks from Natural Grove Poultry Farm Madison Township owned by Mr Joli Rassean. Birds earned top prizes across cock pullets hens cockerels and pen classes amid admiring judges led by Adam Thompson of Amity. Rosseau praised the organizers and noted first-time entries performed strongly. Professor Franklin Pierce Jolly of Joliet will lecture January 19, 1906 in town on The Jolly Side of Life under Presbyterian Ladies Aid auspices. Four Tabor College students visited for Thanksgiving and shared a turkey meal. Mr and Mrs Brower moved to rooms near their business and will operate a store in Phelps additions near the elevators.

Prize contest third prize awarded for word craft

Mrs. Sarah A. Mendenhall of this city won third place in the Story and Clark contest by forming 333 words from the letters in Story and Clark. The award carries 3500 dollars. Nearby items note James Bacheldor and wife visiting Louisiana quarantine tales, a local resident’s call, and various county curiosities and events including a fort debate, a hard freeze, and local social notes.
