Mabel Fern Dooley became the wife of Carl E. Werner at high noon on Wednesday April 4 at the Dooley home. Rev. I Th Seybolt officiated under an arch of evergreen and tulips. Attendants were Anna Werner and Raymond Nixon. The reception featured a pink and white decor and an elaborate dinner. many locals attended and offered gifts as the couple begins life together.

Teachers Reelect Board Raises Retain Staff for Another Year

Burial of John Tarr at Hamburg after Red Oak life
John Tarr died in Clarinda on Thursday last at about 65. His body was brought to Hamburg for burial with funeral services at Chas Nelson’s home led by Rev. J. C. Hobbins. He leaves a sister Mrs. W. T. Davis and brother Will Tarr, plus three daughters Mrs. Sd Murphy of Sidney, Stella of Red Oak, and Gertie of St Paul. Interment was in Hamburg cemetery.

Kicked by a Mule Jim Winslow Injured in Barn Incident
Jim Winslow lay injured at his home east of town after a mule kicked him last Friday. Frank Lusby was bridling the animal in the barn when Winslow approached from behind. the mule, as usual, struck without warning, delivering a glancing blow that knocked him unconscious for a time.

Old Relic Pistol Brought From D. P. Holly Farm
N. Anderson preserves an old type self action cap and ball pistol found on the D. P. Holly farm about eighteen years ago. He recalls using it in shoots and notes its strong recoil. Though worn, he plans repairs then to store it for future generations as a relic of early weaponry.

T. E. Newby died at his Sidney home Friday night. Funeral services were held there Sunday afternoon. He lived in Sidney many years and was engaged in the mercantile business and served as deputy clerk for many years. Last fall he ran for county auditor but was defeated. Mrs Kate Bogan Taylor, born August 23 1864 in Taylorville Indiana, died April 3 1917 near Watson after months with stomach cancer. She married J Taylor in 1890 and leaves two daughters Tempa Irene and Sylvia, her father Dr W L Bogan, two brothers and three sisters, and a number of relatives. Funeral at home then Methodist church, Hamburg cemetery. Interment noted. Also notes a Sacred Concert Sale by the Methodist church choir with program items and participants.

Injury to Knee From Runaway Incident
George McKean suffered a badly gashed knee and a sprained limb on Monday after trying to hold a runaway horses and disc. He caught his leg in the disc, sustaining a deep gash, then jumped off the team and sprained his limb. An X ray was taken and no serious injury is expected.
