Pasture Improvement Pioneered by New England Trials
Research at Chiswick since 1943 shows sowing improved pastures boosts carrying capacities and sheep weight. Trials compare phalaris and clover mixes, with late summer sowings favored and superphosphate boosting results. Stocking rates rose to 10 sheep per acre on experimental pastures, wool yield and live weight increasing versus native pastures.
