Local notes report residents returning to Tingha from Sydney holidays, medical treatment, and transfers. Several families welcome visitors, while a Tingha school egg fund raises for the Cottage Hospital. Thelma Willis and others are home on leave from service.
The Superintendent of Technical Education advised Mr. D. H. Drummond that approval is granted for an extra technical college class at Guyra. A motor maintenance course starts October 12 and runs Fridays 7 pm to 9 pm at Mr. Burgess’s gate.
The list shows TEA SUGAR and BUTTER coupons with weekly rations and expiry on October 21. TEA offers two ounces per coupon with a two ounce value, SUGAR provides two pounds per coupon, BUTTER provides one pound per coupon. Coupons accumulate and expire on October 21.
The health inspector Mr. O. Akin reports satisfactory conditions across Guyra Shire last month with inspections of food shops depots and premises. Nuisance drainage issues were addressed at Mrs Ward's estate and repairs urged for Falconer and Malpas streets premises. Tingha and Ben Lomond Black Mountain areas showed generally good conditions with minor items noted. Gutter repairs were requested for the Palace Theatre to prevent street flooding.
W V S notes report a street stall raising £25 with £6 16s total from supporters in London and Boorolong. Winners in the Onsanise Competition included fruit cake, coat hanger, and permanent wave donated by local residents. a dressing gown contest awaits analysis. Monthly meeting will start packing soldiers' Christmas parcels. cake tins and 4/6 cake payments offered with donor names. A £3 3s donation from C W A towards the Christmas parcels fund is acknowledged.
Inverell Hospital notification cited in a precautionary case. Water samples from the Tingha Cottage Hospital well were forwarded to the Department of Public Works for analysis. The report was adopted on the motion of Crs Cox and Mulligan.
