The Guyra Shire Council discussed an electric lighting plan with the Country Electric Supply Co. Engineers urged 24 hour service. a 4d rate within the lighting area was proposed to fund the scheme. The council welcomed a 30 year extension to the franchise and considered a 1/8 unit lighting charge with a domestic 1d per unit, a varied commercial rate, and sunset to sunrise operation.
Second, lin proposed curing out of the flat rate with a primary utility system to charge per 0 square feet of lighting and then domestic rates for all subsequent consumption. The plan aims to boost meter use and attract more current usage, with a conference set for June 9 to finalise terms and sign the agreement.
