Taxation Fallacy Echoed In Public Critique
An August 1845 opinion piece argues the public clamor for tax cuts grows postwar as the tax burden remains high. It cites 1939 versus present rates on £200 £400 and £700 incomes, notes costs of keeping forces, and praises tax cuts to spur production and employment while acknowledging government management.

Shortage of Greenfeast pea seed worries Australian growers
Mr A Frank White general secretary of the Farmers Union told the Australian Vegetable Seeds Committee in Sydney last week that a real shortage of Greenfeast pea seed exists due to wet harvests in New Zealand. He said early planting is unlikely to help and plans were made to ship about 100 bushels to Guyra Armidale and Glen Innes but would deplete seeds held by the committee. He recommended Canners Perfection as the best substitute and noted little progress at the vegetable growers conference.
