Mr J McCulloch and officers tour farms as Australian Potato Committee studies compensation. A proposed plan uses a statutory declaration to assess diggings and bagged produce, aiming to compensate all growers by 20 percent of the No 1 to seed grade value, with payouts tied to residue and acreage.
At a Guyra meeting of the Wi District Council of the Potato Growers Association Mr J McCullagh of the Australian Potato Committee argued the APC does not control inspections, which are the State Agriculture Department’s prerogative. He urged growers troubled by inspections to petition the State Department to remedy issues. Our rep noted inspections are state run but the article warned that good potatoes were being kept from market.
