No Help For Library In Guyra Shire
Ten months after a letter on the library question was sent to the Memorial Institute Committee the Guyra Shire Council considered the plan to run a library under the dicted Australian Act. The council asked for intermission to subsidy and the institute would need a one tenth rate on land values to fund a £420 per capita service area. Dr Youman warned it was a big undertaking and no suitable library space existed while W Stanley said the council could not act under such terms. Dr Starr doubted books would be available now and people were already well served by the Institute library. The matter was left in abeyance.
