Sugar Company to Distribute Record Beet Payments Next Week
The Gunnison Sugar company district will distribute about 252000 to beet growers for October deliveries. Checks will be mailed from Salt Lake Friday and ready Saturday, with payments exceeding last year's total and setting a new company record. Digging ran at high speed with 42000 tons harvested in October and averages of 25 tons per acre at some farms, 14 tons elsewhere, and an overall near twelve tons per acre.

Bonne Foi club fixes date for annual party
At a regular meeting at Mrs Ira Overfelt’s home the Bonne Foi club chose Friday November 13 as the date for its annual party. The event includes the “hubbys” as guests and is anticipated as a leading social occasion next week. Mrs Lloyd Anderson led the study lesson and twelve members enjoyed refreshments. Frank Kearns and Mrs Kearns arrived from Price and will stay several days at the home of Mr and Mrs John Kearns.

The Progressive party led by Mayor hopeful Chas E Embley won Centerfield election with 89 vote margin over Newman Beck. Trustees elected alongside Embley were Richard Fieldsted Chas G Nielsen R C Swalberg and J H Simonsen amid a high turnout of 174 of 200 registered voters.

Gunnison Elects Good Government Ticket In Town Victory
The Good Government ticket swept Gunnison’s municipal election, led by Mayor Parley Christiansen who won by 28 votes over Citizens nominee Knighton. The Gunnison Valley Health Center fundraiser called a silver tea at the Wistaria last Saturday afternoon drew patrons from the city and valley. Proceeds will buy clinic equipment including a weighing scale and examination-room paraphernalia. A social of mothers, games, prizes, and a short musical program accompanied the event. Fifty four guests enjoyed a luncheon served by Mr. and Mrs. Aymer Peterson.
