Alvie Peterson died at age 62 from a heart attack on May 16 in Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held at Roge Park Fifth Ward Chapel with burial in Gall Lake City Cemetery. Born February 12, 1909 in Gunnison, he was a carpenter and theater owner with ties to Gunnison Valley High School and Peterson Mortuary in Ealing and Richfield. He married Caral Mirtle Christensen December 24, 195? and is survived by his widow, four children, two grandchildren, and several siblings.
Peter LaFayette Proundsen died May 11 at age 65. Retired villey farmer and church worker, he lived in Pleasant. Funeral services set May 23 in First Ward Chapel under Bishop Darrell Warrin. Burial in Pleasant Cemetery directed by Warren Jensen Funeral Home. Survived by wife Gunnison area, 14 children and many grandchildren.
Ernest H. Willden a former resident of Mayford and Gunnison and longtime manager of the Gunnison Branch for Telluride Power Company died May th from electrocution at FM Air Force Base. Funeral services were held May 12 at 1 pm in the Layton LDS Chapel with burial in Clearfield Cemetery. He was born September 21, 1919 in Setple, Utah, son of Henry and Ann Willden, and lived in Salt Lake City before moving to Mayford as a youth. He married Joy Jorgensen December 23, 1903 in hands. He worked as an electrician at Fat Air Force Base and ran his own electrical contracting business in Northern Utah. He served in World War II and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an LDS Church member and elder. Survivors include his widow Layton and children Michael Willden, Ducheste, Brent Wilden, US Army, and Brian Cook, Sunset, among others in Layton, with sisters and others listed. The Utah Federation of Gem and Mineral Societies gets and Mineral Jubilee sponsored by Castle Valley Gem and Mineral Society will be held at the National Guard Armory in Price on May 22 through 30, featuring fossils, minerals, demonstrations, dealer booths, and judged exhibits.
The Board of Education in South Banpety approves a 1971 summer plan at Munth High School and Epturulin, with commencement ceremonies May 27 at Munth High and Clann Valley High. Superintendent Gleave backs a state policy, while appointing Rodney Comn as counselor for Mand Wigh School and Ephalo Jr High. The program includes workshops in Cedar City and sessions for several teachers, with a registration-based funding approach.

Survivors include two brothers Alfred Boblieat and Evan Rottsca, both of San Francisco.
Gunnison High School confirms commencement on May 27 at 1 p.m. in Guinniada Valley for 51 seniors led by Principal Woodrow Beck. Four honor speakers include Janet Andersen and Marilyn Beck with a program featuring class songs, instrumental numbers, and diplomas awarded by E. Andersen.
Gunnison FFA claimed the top land judging trophy at a Field Day event featuring judging teams from Gunnison High and Joab High. The award recognized individual and team performances across land judging and agricultural mechanics. Demonstrations on range evaluation and livestock judging complemented the contest, with awards announced for ribbons and several industry judges present.
