Graduation Day At Gunnison Valley High School
The Gunnison Valley high school held graduation exercises with thirty four diploma recipients in a memorable ceremony led by Principal Leo Bardsley. Judge Dilworth Woolley of Manti gave the commencement address praising higher education and values. Robert Gledhill, valedictorian, spoke on Opportunity and earned a Snow College scholarship. Also noted were pins for outstanding students Hazel Jensen and Henry Kearns. Separately, Christian Mickelson, longtime Gunnison Valley resident, died at his Gunnison home after a three month illness. Funeral services were held at the high school with Bishop C E Embley officiating. The body was interred in Gunnison city cemetery.

Gunnison eighth graders won the annual high school track meet held Friday with Gunnison totaling 8 0% points and Centerfield 36% while Axtell finished with 20. Events included boys and girls races broad jumps high jumps shot put relays pole vault and a volleyball throw with Gunnison and Centerfield leading in several events. Funeral rites for Joseph E Bardsley held in Centerfield
Solemn services conducted at the high school auditorium honored Joseph Edward Bardsley who died after a brief pneumonia illness at his Centerfield home. Born April 23 1874 in Gunnison he lived as a sheep herder with a long line of family survivors including his wives Emma Lilly and Stena Hendrickson and children John Verlel DelRey Miles Loretta Zella and Mayon Bardsley. The service featured hymns prayers and tributes by Bishop Chas E Embley and others followed by interment at Centerfield cemetery with a large floral display.
