Fayette Matron Blaine Bartholomew Dies at Home
Mrs Blaine Bartholomew died at Fayette after a three day pneumonia battle. Born Eva Larson in Sterling on September 17 1908 she left a husband and infant daughter born Saturday April 26. Funeral services were held in Sterling with a large turnout from many areas.

At Gunnison Valley High Tuesday noon two rival Blue and White tickets faced off in a tight school year election. Blue candidate Ahlan Swalberg won president by two votes over Duane Tollestrup as 63 to 61. Elected officers include Leona Michaelson vice president Merle Park secretary treasurer Leon Michaelson athletic manager Vivian Sorenson yell master Evelyn Mortensen editor Karot Mary Pjeldsted reporter Grace Beck.

Centerfield and Mayfield will be strongly represented at the district meeting of the Mutual Improvement associations to be held at Mt Pleas ant next Saturday. At Gunnison Valley high school last Saturday morning qualifiers earned the right to compete at Hub City. A large crowd attended with talent on display as Harry Christiansen won the M Men public speaking and Miss Belma Anderson took the Gleaner Girls public speaking. Centerfield also presented a valued drama. It is expected a big crowd will accompany Saturday’s winners to Mt Pleasant.

Parole sought by killer of Don Solovich from 1928 case
Sheldon Clark, convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Don Solovich's 1928 Gunnison murder, has applied to the state board of pardons for parole. Hearing set for May 17. Clark, who fled after the crime, confessed claiming self defense as the victim’s money vanished.

Buggins Family Attends Provo Funeral of Relative
Mr and Mrs S J Duggins June and Paul Duggins attended the funeral of Glade Myers a 17 year old Provo resident and son of George and Florence Myers who died of spinal meningitis. Services were private at the graveside and Myers was a prominent young Provo businessman with broad community ties.

Gunnison Plans Commencement Exercises At Two Schools
Gunnison Valley high school will graduate 30 students this year with 15 girls and 15 boys at a Thursday 8:15 p.m. ceremony in the auditorium. Dr. Lowrey Nelson will give the principal address. Julia Modeen is valedictorian. The Washington School also reports 39 prospective graduates with an eight o'clock program led by J. E. Metcalf and a list of names.

Three Salina men accused of assault on City Marshal
Joe Gates and Osmond Fenn of Salina and Warren Allred of Spring City faced Centerfield Justice E H Bardsley after allegedly offering City Marshal Roy Taft a beer and assaulting him. Gates and Fenn admitted possession and assault, choosing 560 days in jail over a $50 fine. Alfred was fined $20. The incident occurred Thursday at Tuft farm as Taft attempted to arrest them for beer possession, and the trio fled toward Salina. Taft notified the Sanpete county sheriff. warrants were issued for the men.

Mothers Day Observance in Gunnison Ward
Mothers Day will be observed at City hall in Gunnison ward next Sunday at 10 a.m. Temporary church headquarters are set up there. Sunday school officers and pupils prepared a program focusing on entertaining mothers. Tokens will be given to all mothers and all are invited to attend. Gunnison catcher Hugh Halverson hopes to join the baseball season opener after a weekend birth in Salina. A seven and a half pound girl was born to Mrs Halverson Saturday and both mother and baby are reported well.

W G Roylance owner of Gun nison Bakery has again taken charge of the cafe in the main building under lease to Loris Allen. He started May 1 and will devote full time to the cafe. Timely Rain Storm Valued at Millions
A southern Utah rain and snowstorm Sunday and Monday soaked fields aiding beet growers and wheat farmers. Beets had been drilled and many ready for watering while moisture benefits extended to foothill ranges and grazing areas.
