Jarvis Fenn a longtime resident of Gunnison and Hansen died when struck by lightning while working his farm near Hansen. The 1670 birth date and family details are listed, including wife Mrs Fea Fenn and children Arlene Linda Crystal Warren and Waynand, plus survivors in Hansen and Gunnison. Funeral rites were held May 4 in Muriaugh Tah.

Bernard Anderson, son of Mrs Blur Bartholitien of Fayetin, was assigned to the Defense Logistics Service Center. He rose from air force lieutenant colonel to deputy commissioner and came from Mesh wwit, Paklbin, where he directed a US Military Assistance and Advisory Group. During World War II he served in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Community members from Gunnison Valley and Galye rallied to fund a trip for Mrs Ho bers to Fort Wayne on May 21 to meet Elder Reed Moterta. Workers at the Cartiale Clothing Co plant, led by Warren Jeren, presented a cash gift and a bouquet, with money raised to cover train and sleeping arrangements.
Gunnison Miss Miri Meredith Overfelt, a Waauleh Academy student in Mt Pleasent, made the A honor roll in her first year of the program. The event featured a regional choir festival hosted by Some College, with attendance from local schools and students. Eugene and Mrs Overtele are noted as her parents.

Ida Swalberg died April 30 at Murray Hospital at 1 14 pm after natural causes. Born January 1 in Sweden, she moved to America young, married Ernet L Swalberg in the Manti Temple, and lived in Gunnison. She was active in the LDS Church including YWMIA leadership. Survivors: one son, two grandchildren. Burial in Gunnison Cemetery with services in Salt Lake City.
A statewide slogan contest titled Make Utah Beautiful is sponsored by the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce with UK State University and KCPR Radio TV. Entries invited by May 10 with judging May 14. prizes include 50 dollars and other awards.
The Gannieon Valley Lions Club elected officers led by Leon Embley as president with Eugene Overtult as vice president and Mareie Wan Beet as secretary. Provident Brulley and Paul Dyrong to hold other roles, term begins July 1.
