Mrs. Mary Ann Rasmussen, born May 12 1881 in Manti, died at her Centerfield home after illness. Survived by husband R P Rasmussen four sons and two daughters, plus brothers and half siblings. Funeral held at Centerfield meeting house with interment in Manti.

About 200 finger artists gather for the Fifth Annual Commercial Newspaper in Provo Utah with more than thirty high schools registered. International contest manager N Kimball of New York City attends. Prizes include an Underwood trip to Toronto, silver cups, two 70 dollar scholarships, and Brigham Young University pennants. Events cover shorthand and typewriting with a morning start at Brigham Young University.

Case Keeper Cleared In City Court Verdict
A. M. Peterson owner of the Wistaria case was found not guilty of violating a city ordinance when tried before a jury in Justice Reuben Christen eens court. The jury deliberated briefly, and a separate charge over late night business was noted as not guilty or unproven. County Attorney C. M. Edwards defended Peterson with A. E. Park prosecuting for the city as witnesses testified about the midnight hour and a dance at Gunnison Valley high school. The jury comprised Alma Larson Arthur Johnson Willian Baxter and M. D. Beau regard.

Utah sugar beet growing declined over fifty percent since 1920 per Dr George Stewart agronomist Utah Agricultural College in a bulletin. 1920 harvest reached 1 261 000 tons. 1928 about 50 000 acres yielded 560 000 tons. Factories dropped from 18 in 1920 to 10 in 1928, with many idle days. The loss threatens rural finance and taxes, urging restoration and new tax sources through manufacturing development in intermountain states.

Death of Adolph Peterson Shocks Gunnison Community
Adolph Peterson died at Salina hospital after a ruptured appendix. Born April 2 1890 in Manti Utah, he married Lorena Grant in 1912 and served as a missionary in Denmark. He later ran Elite Bakery in Gunnison and was active in Mormon church duties. Survived by wife and four sons Grant Reno Blair and Smoot, plus siblings. Funeral at Gunnison Valley high school auditorium Friday at two.

The South Sanpete district trustees approved small salary increases for long serving instructors, ranging from 2.50 to 5 per month, at a meeting in Manti. They discussed transferring eighth grade students from Axtell to Centerfield to ease overcrowding, with a special meeting set for Saturday evening. Mayfield Junior High grounds will be beautified with a 226 in funds for trees and lawn. A new Reo truck for student transport arrived in Clarion, seating 40 to 50, and Ghas W Perkins was named caretaker for Washington School succeeding Hyrum Frederickson who moved to San Francisco.
