At the regional South Sanpete convention in Manti teachers proposed state certification for teachers and a three year probation with permanent status upon meeting board requirements. They urged local and state teacher groups to have a voice in dismissal trials and recommended a nine month year with eight and a half months in class and one half month for prep. They also called for April 1 as contract sending date and non confidential superintendent and principal recommendations.

Highland Canal Company Adopts Water Transfer Regulations
At a special stockholders meeting with 75 percent representation the Highland Canal company approved a rule prohibiting transfers of water rights into the Highland reservoir from outside entities except for common benefit to all stockholders. Waters will be distributed in current proportions. The board may rent or acquire external water rights and distribute them to stockholders in the same manner as Highland rights.

Road Improvement Underway Across Sanpete County Streets
Parley Christiansen state road agent for Sanpete county supervises a large crew repairing and resurfacing the Clarion road to the city’s edge at about 100 dollars per mile. Work will then extend to Axtell Redmond and to the lowest gravel road, with Fayette road also receiving gravel coats and two miles put in first class shape at roughly one thousand dollars. Mrs. J. E. Blaine Peterson a 15 year old known for prankish acts and disobedience was taken to Ogden by Judge A 0 Nielson. He received a six year term at the Industrial school or until his majority for numerous indecent acts including a break in. Neighbors regret his fate hoping he benefits from the sentence and can return home with good conduct credits.
