Tragic Death Of Walter Lott In Highway Crash
Walter Lott 15 son of Mr and Mrs James Lott Centerfield was killed instantly when struck by a car driven by Horace Brown near Gunnison Valley high school. He leaped from a hay rack and landed on the car as it passed, suffering a basal skull fracture. He died at Gunnison after examination by Dr Hagan. Sheriff Ed Peterson deemed the incident unavoidable. Walter born May 6 1918 in Elsinore and survived by parents three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services slated for later.

Funeral set for Gun nison resident Nephi Gledhill
Nephi Gledhill a Gunnison resident for over six decades died at Salt Lake City hospital after weeks of illness at age 79. Born in England in 1853 he moved to Gunnison as a child and held roles in the L D S church, served as stake and ward clerk, edited the Gunnison Gazette, and ran a mercantile business. Burial in Gunnison followed a Wednesday funeral at the high school auditorium with state church officials and family present.

Narrow Escape for Julia Hagan in Coast Earthquake
Miss Julia Hagan daughter of Dr and Mrs J A Hagan of this city escaped death Friday night as a Southern California earthquake wrecked St Marys hospital in Long Beach and damaged homes. She helped move patients then served on continuous duty until Sunday morning. Her sister Helen Hagan and brother Miles Madsen and family were also affected with their home wrecked and injuries from falling timbers.

Rally Praises Gunnison Valley 1983 Bulldogs Ahead of State
A morning pep rally at Gunnison Valley High School celebrated the 1983 region six champion basketball team the Bulldogs. Students staff and visitors cheered for over thirty minutes with band music and shouty encouragement led by principals and co captains as the players and coach Payton Alexander prepared to depart for the state tournament. The squad included Woodrow Beck Glen Pritchett and Claine Munk with substitutes Dean Nielson Dean Anderson and Ralph Beauregard.

Official Pays Visit To Centerfield Sugar Mill
Rt. T. Harris secretary treasurer for Gunnison Sugar company spent Saturday at the big Centerfield sugar mill in conference with his lieutenants about the 1934 sugar beet campaign. Harris expressed optimism on the sugar situation and the coming campaign. Contracts were just off the press and indications were favorable for a big acreage.
