County agent C. C. Stott reports Gunnison Valley dairymen rally to join a cow testing program. An expert will assess butterfat percentages and advise on rations and breeding. Cows below standard may be disposed of. tests run every other month at no cost to farmers seeking practical dairying guidance.
Chas P Peterson and Byron Peterson were called to Provo to attend the funeral of Hale Christensen the 22 year old son of Mr and Mrs A H Christensen. Services were in Garden City and the body was taken to Manti Cemetery to rest beside his mother. Hale died after cancer developed following an injury with a surveying party. He would have turned 22 on the date of burial.
Hans L Brienholt age 80 father of Mrs Lyda B Duggins died at his son’s Ephraim home Tuesday of last week after visiting his son from Provo where they had lived twelve years. He was one of Ephraim’s early settlers and survived by widow three daughters and one son. Impressive funeral held in Ephraim last Saturday attended by hundreds with local mourners listed.
The Telluride Power company announced plans to build an auxiliary plant to meet growing emergencies and prevent outages at the Beaver plant. The unit will generate about 1500 horsepower at an estimated cost of $200000, with work to start after a site is chosen and operation expected by early fall. The plant aims to relieve load growth, support mining farms and private users, and safeguard main lines through mountain passes during winter.
Local radio dealers A M Peterson and W C Talboe traveled by car to Salt Lake City, leaving Sunday and returning Tuesday.
Clinton Kjar district agricultural inspector orders compulsory pruning and removal of old dead and blighted trees across orchards. Ten day notice given before surveys enforce compliance with costs charged to noncompliant owners. A spraying program is planned for the season to improve fruit quality and standards.
Twenty members of the Royal Neighbors lodge of Gunnison were entertained at a seven o clock dinner party hosted by Mrs. A. M. Peterson at the Wisteria. The group dined at a long table with pink decorations and then played bridge at the Peterson home on East First South street, with Mrs. H. A. Kearns and Mrs. Alma Larson winning the favors.

Eight blanks requested. essays on meat or livestock plus a menu due by April 1. Cash prizes totaling 2500 dollars and university scholarships available. judges are prominent home economics women. last year 16500 girls enrolled.
Marenius Beauregard, 77, and Mary Edwards, 60, wed in a brief ceremony performed by Ernest Mortensen, county clerk, after obtaining a marriage license in Gunnison. The couple will reside in the Beauregard home on East Center Street, with friends wishing them happiness.
Mt Pleasant pastor Rev N R Smiths will conduct services at the Gunnison Presbyterian church next Sunday evening at seven thirty. The public is invited.

Mrs. Zoay Long, 76, long time Idaho resident and former nurse, died after cancer battle in Franklin Idaho. She was born in Mississippi and moved to Idaho with Mormon faith. Survived by sons Claud Long Brigham Rufus Dudley Long Franklin and daughters Mrs John Kearns Gunnison and Mrs Henry Duretler Franklin plus 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. E. J. Erickson hosted a birthday dinner Thursday evening for her mother Mrs. Mary J. Edwards who celebrated her 60th milestone. Dinner was served at five with twenty four covers. A social time followed and the guest received many gifts.
J E Bauer formerly bound for district court in Manti after a Gunnison Valley bank robbery was recaptured in Nephi Tuesday night. Frank Anderson who escaped with Bauer remains at large. Accomplice John Ryan was wounded and potentially escaped. Jail lock failed and outside help suspected as the two fled Salt Creek canyon with provisions and coats.
Sixty students in the Gunnison stake M L A prepare the Gypsy Rover for April 1. A chorus of sixty voices will be trained by Harold Bradley with Miss Jeanette Rudellatt tutoring dance. Principal singers include Beulah Metcalf, Aleds Christiansen, Marjorie Sorenson, Virginia Preator, Donald Park, Robert Gledhill, Bert Felt, Nolan Edwards, DeWayne Willardson, Vernon Ferre and Tony Villard. a twenty five piece orchestra will accompany.
Milo T. Dyches of the Fishlake National Forest urges planning and selection of quality shade trees to beautify homes and towns. He notes historic value of trees along streets and the need to avoid conflicts with wires and infrastructure for lasting shade and property value. The piece urges communities to plant thoughtfully for future comfort. James Own, who spent a week at Logan visiting her daughters Miss Ovila and Beryl Bown, returned home Sunday.
L H Johnson of Telluride Power Company was in Richfield to help search crews for Slade Hancock, who disappeared while patrolling a power line during a severe mountain storm. Hundreds of searchers have pored the region with no body found yet. Lester Jepson traveled west Tuesday aiming for Nevada cities. He plans to visit Ely Ruth and possibly Tonopah, where he once worked in a bank.
The Seminary Pageant titled This Believing World dazzled Friday night audiences with Salina Mant and Gunnison performers delivering skilled musical numbers. Students earned praise for memorization and costumes but funds for a projecting machine fell short, prompting appeals to patrons to contribute again or the device may be returned. Principal Mr Whitehead thanked students and supporters for their cooperation.
