Scrapping of Autos To Cost 15 Millions
The National Automobile Chamber of Commerce announces a 1980 Rocky Mountain plan to remove 14 000 unsafe cars from highways across Utah and neighboring states. Utah alone allocates 1 740 cars with about 525 000 anticipated expenditure. Nationally 400 000 autos will be scrapped at near 15 million dollars as part of a broad safety program led by automakers.

Youthful Poultryman Forrest Pritchett Wins Big Prize
Forrest Pritchett, one year old son of Mr and Mrs Ellis Pritchett, earned third prize from the Utah Poultry Producers association in the state contest and first prize among Sanpete county competitors. He received 150 baby chicks and a gold medal for his poultry project. The Gunnison youth, who began with 600 chicks last year after a coop fire, aims to attend college and use his chickens to fund his education.

Big gains shown in dairy herd improvement unions
Dairy farmers are urged to keep complete production records as dairy herd improvement associations expand nationwide under the U S Department of Agriculture. Since 1905 these groups have grown to about 4 090 active associations recording nearly 600 000 cows with butterfat per cow rising from 237 to 305 pounds over five years in three typical associations. Sanpete county farmers are advancing in dairy investments and herd quality.

Home Wool Growers Back Market Plan in Sanpete County Meeting
At a well attended Sanpete County meeting held in the Ephraim Public Library, 38 men from nine communities voted unanimously to support the National Wool Marketing Corporation by signing contracts and marketing this year’s wool through the Utah Wool Marketing Association. The county pool will remain intact while local pool committees dispose of this year’s wool.
