Radcliffe Chautauqua Comes to Gunnison in August
The Radcliffe Chautauqua system will visit Gunnison this season at the urging of local business and educational interests. August 11, 12 and 18 have been chosen for the program with lectures on citizenship and American ideals by a different speaker each day. Afternoon discussions address community problems and evenings feature notable concerts or entertainment groups. Two children’s programs are included in the schedule.

New Cashier Arrives for Gunnison City Bank Opening
Clyde Edmonds formerly of the Copper National Bank in Salt Lake has resigned to become cashier at Gunnison City National Bank. Mrs. Edmonds will join him later. District to Vote On School Bonds for Gunnison High
A special election will be held Monday July 19 to vote on 200000 in bonds for a new Gunnison high school and improvements in South Sanpete district schools. If approved Gunnison gets 100000 for a high school, with the rest shared among Manti Ephraim Centerfield and Mayfield for heating and other upgrades. Construction will start promptly but the Gunnison high school may not be ready for the fall term due to high material costs and labor shortages.

Centerfield Plans For Rousing Fourth Of July
Centerfield schedules a major Fourth of July celebration with a full day of events. Activities begin at 10 AM at the Centerfield opera house with a civic program including prayers, speeches, solos, and a Declaration of Independence reading. Afternoon sports feature horse racing, barrel riding, sack races, and driving contests followed by a 1 PM ball game between Centerfield champions and the Bloomer Girls. Factory Employees Entertain Friends at Gunnison Valley sugar plant
Gunnison Valley Sugar factory employees hosted about a hundred friends for a Saturday evening dance and chicken supper at the Plaza View Hotel. The Gunnison orchestra provided music as guests enjoyed salad, potatoes, chicken, hot biscuits, strawberry shortcake, and pie. D.
