Members of the Gunnison Bridge Club celebrated with a Monday banquet at the Gunnison hotel for 24 members and guests. After a holiday-feast atmosphere with a snow-themed table decor, they played progressive bridge with honors to Mrs. Edd Jensen and Charles Rasmussen and second honors to Mrs. Ira Overfelt and Lenno Rosenvall. Hart J. Sanders won the solo game among the men guests.

Pneumonia Fatal to LeClerc Ballard
LeClerc Ballard known as Lee died at his home after a five day battle with broncho pneumonia following influenza. Born August 21, 1898 in North Loup Nebraska, he served in the Intelligence Corps during World War I and worked as deputy sheriff in Los Angeles and Salt Lake. He later moved to Sanpete County as a mechanic and married June Beauregard on February 15, 1984, leaving two daughters Mary and Louise.

Gunnison Depot Burns in Destructive Fire
The Gunnison D. and R. G. W. depot was destroyed by a fire last Friday evening with an estimated loss over $2,500. Investigators suspect a cigarette started the blaze. officials say the wind and platform location caused rapid spread. Fire damaged tracks, rails, and telegraph wires, but insurance covered the loss and plans for a new station are announced.

$6,000 FERA Fund For Cleaning Canal
After negotiations with the Federal Emergency Relief Administration, Piute Reservoir & Irrigation Company receives a $6,000 grant for long-needed repairs. Work includes removing weeds and brush to improve water distribution from the upper canal at Joseph to the Sanpete county line. Services for Infant Wendell Taylor Held in City
Impressive services were held Sunday afternoon for Wendell Allen Taylor infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Taylor with Bishop J. M. Anderson officiating. The baby was born in December 1934 and died Saturday from pneumonia. Surviving are the parents, grandparents Allen Taylor of Loa and Low Baxter of Gunnison, and great grandparents James Baxter of this city.
