Commission Seeks State Restatement of Gunnison to Levan Road
A committee of business and civic leaders from Junction, Marysvale, Richfield, Salina, Gunnison, and Nephi petitioned the Utah State Road Commission to reinstate the Gunnison to Levan route as a state highway. They argued travel savings to Salt Lake City and endorsed maintenance funded by state and county gasoline tax. Action was deferred for talks with Juab and Sanpete county officials later in the week.

The Commercial Club of Nephi endorses petitioning the state legislature to reclassify the Levan to Gunnison road from secondary to primary. Tax Reduction Session Foreshadows Utah Tuberculosis Sanatorium Move
At a February meeting in the State Capital, Utah officials and legislators debated a bill to erect and fund a state tuberculosis sanatorium. The group voiced tax relief concerns, noted 1,500 Utahans with TB and 184 annual deaths, and voted to publish the meeting record rather than seek immediate funding.
Officers Installed in Royal Neighbors of Gunnison
The Royal Neighbors of Gunnison held a meeting at Mrs. Ellen Hofbeins home last Monday where year officers were installed. J Overfelt became oracle, Charlotte Villard recorder, Belle McKenna receiver, Ross Palmer chancellor. Four new members Dig gins Madsen Jensen Voorhees were initiated. Prizes went to Will Voorhees and Hofbeins after a social 500 game, with refreshments served at eleven.

A board of directors was named and a mass meeting at the Kinema theatre in Centerfield set for Friday night to name officers and launch a membership drive.

The funeral for Esther Bench daughter of Geo E Bench Sr and Jane Bench was held in North Ward Chapel Sunday February 1 at 3 30 p m Bishop E T Reid officiated. She born in Manti March 7 1867 and was a devoted L D S member serving in many church roles and temple work. She leaves a large family including a mother and several siblings.

W. H. Lay, chairman of the county commissioners in Plute County, visited early this week. Lay, a strong supporter of reinstating the Gunison-Levan road as a primary state highway, was en route to Salt.

War Veteran Willard Willardson Dies in Mayfield
Willard Willardson a Mayfield pioneer died at his home after a brief illness. Born June 29 1862 in Denmark he came to America as a child and settled in Ephraim before moving to Mayfield. Funeral services were held at the Mayfield meeting house. He was survived by his widow and several children. Gilbert McMillan recovering from throat infection following an operation.
