Taxpayers Seek Salary Reductions in Sanpete Budget Hearing
More than seventy Sanpete county taxpayers from across communities gathered at the Manti courthouse to critique the tentative budget. The Sanpete County Taxpayers Association urged a ten percent salary cut for all county officers and pressed for road tax changes from 1.8 to 1.2 mills. Representatives from Gunnison Centerfield Axtell and other Gunnison Valley communities attended the long session led by Junius Metcalf with board chairmanship by the county commissioners.
