A businessman criticizes city schools and officers for not enforcing laws against pedestrians using highways to walk to and from school. He cites Miss Hill's injuries and warns of the danger of students crowding autos and being struck, urging firmer rules and school warnings.
Chairman Elias S. Woodruff of Near East Relief Utah warns that about 33 340 orphans in the Near East depend on American aid for food and training. He says Utah should take pride and continue support to keep these children from famine and to prepare them for self reliance through vocational schooling.
A Washington school Parent-Teacher meeting focused on student health with Mrs. Miller, county health nurse, urging a uniform health program. Bailey praised early education and teacher cooperation as underweight and overweight rates, enlarged tonsils, decayed teeth, dirty teeth, and vision defects were discussed. Community singing and student performances followed with questions on supervised play and a district truancy officer to be addressed at next meeting.
Impromptu Entertainment's The Road to Dover toured southern towns with a UAC troupe. It filled an unannounced Gunnison Valley high school engagement on Tuesday after Salina show Monday. About 300 attended Gunnison performance and praised it.
J. C. Mellor and A. M. Mellor, Manti stockmen, visited Gunnison on a combined business and pleasure trip. A. M. Mellor just returned from inspecting desert herds reporting excellent conditions with ample feed and moisture as sheep thrive.

Sugar is selling at the year’s low with New York wholesale at 5.50 cents a pound and central markets at 6.40 cents. Beet sugar production, rising since October, is cutting prices as factories in Ohio, Michigan, and California push supply eastward. The beet crop, largest since 1924, now fuels about one fifth of annual demand, with price influence strongest October through January. Imported Cuban sugar and seaboard refiners set prices otherwise.

Grant Larson of Gun nison and son of Mr and Mrs Niels Larson married Miss Evelyn Curtis of Payson last Friday in Manti. The county clerk officiated as a small circle of intimate friends witnessed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Payson for the present.
Mrs Hazel Peterson entertained eighteen guests at her well appointed birthday dinner party last Sunday evening. A splendid seven thirty dinner was followed by progressive 500 with first prizes awarded to Mrs J S Peterson and J B Roper and consolation prizes to Ada Peterson and Martin Peterson. The hostess received many gifts in remembrance.
Ralph Pitchforth, a top Utah stockman, spent Tuesday with local cattle growers. He has purchased many fat cattle in the southern section this fall and reports farmers pleased with current selling prices.
Laura Will Hill fifteen daughter of Mr and Mrs R R Hill of Payette was struck by a speeding car while walking after a Fayette Manti Gunnison game. She suffered a gash on the lip a bruised nose and leg wounds. The driver fled and details were not learned at once. Her companions escaped injury and she received care at Dr Hagan's home before returning home.
A new Girls club at Gunnison Valley High School is organized to promote womanhood etiquette hygiene and moral standards. Officers include Ella Nelson president Ruby Nelson vice president Alta Norris secretary treasurer. members from each class represented. A contest for an official club name will award a prize and a constitution with bylaws will be created.
