Postmaster Leo Glehill urges early Christmas mail to prevent congestion at Gunnison post office. Pack securely address accurately and prepay. parcels should be mailed by 9 45 A M to ensure timely delivery and safe handling during the holiday rush.
The Ladies Home Missionary Society of the Presbyterian church held a bazaar and cafeteria supper at the chapel last evening. A full house enjoyed a mixed program and social time. The supper featured roast turkey chicken salads pie ice cream coffee and other delicacies. Booths offered doylies aprons handkerchiefs and Christmas gift items with strong sales. Returns totaled near ninety dollars for the local society.
Royal Neighbors officers were re-elected for the coming year at a regular meeting at Mrs. Leo N. Gledhill’s home last Monday evening. Newly named officers include Mrs. Ellen Hofbeins oracle, Mrs. Charlotte Villard recorder, Mrs. Belle McKenna receiver, and several others. A radio concert followed the session with selections from Omaha Portland Los Angeles and San Francisco. Refreshments were served before departure.
N. C. Hanks, a renowned lecturer who is blind and without hands after a mine explosion, delivered a splendid talk at the high school auditorium last evening. The audience responded warmly to his clever storytelling and entertaining presence.
J. R. Howard superintendent and Hart Sanders chief chemist of the Gunnison Valley Sugar company went to Salt Lake City last Friday for talks with chief officials. They then traveled to Denver and plan several side trips to major sugar mills in Colorado, returning late next week.
James H. Wallis of the Utah Public Health Association announces awards to reward top sales of Christmas Seals in Utah schools. Prizes include nurse services, playground equipment, lunch programs, scales, framed pictures, and monetary rewards plus medals for statewide top sellers. Sales criteria require ten cents per capita in a district and include all related events.

Mrs Peery entertained the O N O Club Wednesday evening with a brief social session and the members then enjoyed a dancing party as guests.
Joseph Morrison and A Josephs both 19 born in New York and Pennsylvania were arrested by Marshal Tollestrup after a sheep wagon at Juab station was robbed. Guns and cooking utensils were recovered. They pleaded guilty and were bound over to the district court with $500 bonds.
J M Knighton and Jed Cox of Independent Gas and Oil arrived from Salt Lake City to demonstrate the I Go Oak motor oil in this city. The firm drained and filed over fifty cars with the oil at Rosenvall garage today. Tonight they meet local stockholders at City Hall to discuss several matters.
One of the small pins sent to Nevada returned safely and performed its duty by delivering a $2 check from Mrs. Rose H. Robins. Mrs. Robins said the Robins family enjoyed every issue of the News and urged the paper to keep coming.
C M Madsen, newly initiated as a great grandfather on the sixth of this month, receives news from Baron Alberta of the birth of a baby boy to Mrs. McDonald Shidler, granddaughter to Mr. Madsen, making him the youngest great grandfather north of the Sanpitch river. The note ends with a light joke about the world and agriculture.

Centerfield couple Mr and Mrs L M Larson announce engagement of their daughter Mabel Larson to Martinis Follette of Centerfield. The couple plans a December 20 wedding at the Larson home.
Mr and Mrs L L Malmgren held a housewarming last Sunday in Centerfield to celebrate completion of their new home. Guests from Nephi Levan and nearby towns included Mr and Mrs L G Hobbs Ms Jennings Mr and Mrs Frank Taylor and Mrs A M Jaehnman.
Rev A V Boand of Mt Please will preach at the Presbyterian chapel in Gunnison next Tuesday evening. The sermon will begin at o clock and the public is invited to attend.
