Fire Threatens Gunnison Hotel Fire Destroys Hotel Threats Contained
A fire of undetermined origin struck the Gunnison Hotel Sunday morning. Hotel operators L G Anderson discovered smoke and smelling fumes between the second floor and ceiling. Quick actions by the Gunnison City Fire Department and volunteers prevented spread and serious damage. The room where the fire occurred had been rented the prior night, but the occupant had left. All damage is covered by insurance. Mr and Mrs Paulis Peterson of Baltic visited in November with Mr and Mrs Rex Kearns in Axtell.

Hunter Kills Steer Deer In Red Canyon Area
Ernest Sorenson of Fayette and operator of Gunnison Shoe Tepair hunted in Red Canyon on Sunday. He reported a large wild steer deer with knob horns near the skull, branching into longer shanks above the head. The deer was described in excellent breeding condition and extra large. the head was displayed in his shop.

Life long Gunnison resident Mamie Landeberg was taken to General Hospital in Salt Lake City Sunday evening with a blood clot near the heart. Her condition was listed as critical by Mr and Mrs Albert Childs and their family. Visitors were staying with Mr and Mrs Albert Flosenburg in Center ald over the weekend.

Alfred H Lund, pioneer valley resident and native of Den wink, celebrated his 87th birthday on December 3. He was born December 3, 1870 in Denmark and later moved to the United States with his brother on June 29, 1880. Lund settled in Mayfield, built a home in Westview, and later resided in Gunninoa. He is the father of ten children and has ten or more grandchildren.
