Sugar beet growers hailed a new three year contract guaranteeing a minimum of 7.50 per ton. In South Sanpete district 5 John Knighton won a landslide mayority for the school board with 136 votes over C H Childs who had 135 in Gunnison and Fayette areas. Knighton carried Mayfield town and district 1 races with Christensen and Willardson among others. Knighton previously served on the district board during the Gunnison Valley high school building period.

Gunnison Valley high school stages The Toreadors a light comic opera by Otis Carrington directed by Harold Bradley and Beulah Cassady on December 8 and 9. The cast includes Senor Dicorio Benita Juanita Darw in Anderson and many neighbors as lovers and beggars. The setting is Spanish style with a plot of Benita and Juanita loving Juan and Pablo and Senor Decorio trying to stop love, ending in laughter and a happy resolution.

Larsen Farm Home Destroyed by Fire
The Larsen farm home on Depot Road burned to the ground about 2 AM Monday with an estimated loss of 2500 dollars, 1500 insured. The family had moved to the city for the winter and neighbors found the seething flames. Fire origin unknown but neighbors suspect careless cigarette embers from teens using the site as a rendezvous for late night gatherings.

Fifty Children Examined At Free Dental Clinic
The city dental clinic held last Monday and Tuesday under Dr A D Murray of the state board of health examined fifty preschool children from Axtell Centerfield Fayette and Gunnison. Free treatment was provided to those in need and parents appreciated the cooperation of Gunnison Valley Health clinic officers. Dr Murray praised parental care and noted above normal dental conditions. Ray Norris returned to Kanab after Thanksgiving visit.
