District Ranger Karl Haaser warns campers of increased trailer parking in the Manti La Sal National Forest. Unauthorized occupancy and extended stays are treated as trespass and trailers must be removed by a stated deadline. Unrelated note mentions amateur poet society membership and embassy library books.
R Lynn Jensen received a master’s degree at Brigham Young University summer commencement. His thesis titled The Effects of Group Counseling on Achieving and Under-Achieving Probation College Students. He is son of Mr and Mrs Figiel Jensen of Gunnison Valley. He completed Snow College in 1960 and served a two-year mission for the LDS Church. He plans to teach full time at the high school in Brigham City after marriage to Alice Dewees.
Utah farm participants in the Wheat program under the Agricultural Adjustment Act received allocations. Sanpete County is allotted 11,221 acres as part of Utah total 500,825 acres for the 1968-69 marketing year. The national yield basis is 70 bushels per acre with a 69 million bushel quota.
The annual reunion of the Brigham Janeen family gathered August 20 in Ge Gunnlenn Old Dark with 140 descendants attending. Activities included a breakfast at Fayette Ward Springs and a noon genealogy report at Fayette recreational Hall. A welcome tribute and Indian dances entertained about 200 attendees.
Funeral services for R L Tallestrup 87 were held at the Guusison Second Word Church with prayers and music. Born April 28 26 in La Comtirfield, he lived in the valley most of his life. He married Jeanette Roper January 7 1900 in Centerfield. Survivors include a daughter Beth Harvard and four sons Jay Tollestrup and others. 19 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Burial in Gunnison City Cemetery.
Central Utah Water District meeting on August 11 in Provo discussed selling water to retail distributors and industrial users while avoiding total distribution. plan coordinates with Central Utah Project units, Bonneville Unit water, and Provo River canyons to support projected population growth of about 204,000 in Utah counties. includes treated water delivery to Utah County communities and coordination with Salt Lake and other districts.
Funeral services for Keemath Sid James age 19 of Tooole were held at noon in the Mayfield Ward LDS Chapel after his drowning August 13 at the lake in Pallesde State Park. The service featured prayers, musical selections, a speaker, and a burial at Mayfield Cemetery conducted by the Warra B Jensen Funeral Home with Reed Christiansen dedicating the grave site.
Region Seven PTA hosts a regional conference at Richfield High School with registration at 3 and sessions from 4:30 pm. Mary Kaaler and Neal Magelby announce topics on Smaling and Children's Emotions Health, PTA governance, fundraising, and council partnerships.
Fayette Kentucky obituary notes Mire Garuh 1B born April 1 1877 in Luxon later moved to Hitman. She joined Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints elders wed Tomas HU and raised a large family including Miria Matler Mire Eloimo iM Mel Vor Fayole and others. She lived in Fayotte and California and remained active in church circle before passing away.
Sanpete County Fair roars into full swing with horse shows, races, and a big Friday parade. Events kick Thursday at Maud Selman pool and the Comly Swim Meet, followed by the Farm Bureau Talent Show at the College Auditorium. Friday features horse shows, 4-H classes, and seven adult horse races with $1000 purses. A Flylog Bar Rodeo entertainment caps the night with a parade of stock horses and Miss Sanpete preparations. Saturday repeats several activities including 4-H contests, a county parade, and more rodeo events.

Dials Lew Britt and Grewort Kooven took vocal trio second. Nace Kitrura won piano solo. Janet Jay Hoosen led senior vocal and instrumental pair. Boys quartet led by Inouye Stewart Childs Huehtrick. girls trio includes Framdaen Nielsen Yardley. Senior vocal trio third went to Sherry Anderson with organ duel. Rodeo Friday and Saturday events at Sangety County Fair. Mrs Florence Perryman and family of Murray visited.
The Sanpete County Swim meet is rescheduled to 1:00 p.m. Thursday August 24 at the Mant Pool due to school registrations. All Sanpete County athletes are eligible. Pacific Trails Sportswear sponsors team prizes and cash awards. The Sanpete 4-H Horse Show starts at 1:00 p.m. Thursday August 24 at the Mirgrounds in Must.

A drowning incident claimed the life of a child born July 7 100 in Tray Sarvinons. The family, including parentage and relatives, gathered at Fayetlie and Mes Hil Wick Erlekeot for a graveside service led by local clergy. Community members offered prayers and support as the funeral proceeded.
