Relief Rolls Peak in Utah Counties During Early 1935

Garfield County led Utah with 64.9 percent on relief in the first quarter of 1935 per the Utah ERA division. Morgan and Grand counties logged the lowest shares at 11.3 and 17.4 percent respectively. The era relief program averaged about 31,798 cases across three months, peaking at 32,279 in March, with direct relief totaling 1,276,468 dollars and work relief 1,189,185 dollars.

The Gunnison chapter elects year officers for 1936 and schedules a summer outing to Yellowstone National Park. Gunnison High Band Impresses at Nephi Parade

Gunnison High School band of thirty, in white trousers, drew praise at Nephi for its clarion notes and marching under Milton Perkins during the Blackhawk encampment parade. The Band Mothers plan full uniforms next year. Regular summer practice ended with an ice cream treat for members.

Business Visit by Gunnison Sugar Superintendent

Hart J. Sanders, superintendent for the Gunnison Sugar company, and Mrs. Sanders left Friday for a combined business and pleasure trip. They drove to Sacramento to meet with sugar officials, then to San Francisco. They plan about ten days away, with stops at Los Angeles and a visit to the San Diego exposition upon return.

Miss Daniels Returns From Nagoya Missionary Work

Miss Mabel Daniels has come back to the United States after years in Nagoya Japan. She will be in Gunnison next Sunday to lead a religious service at the home of Mr and Mrs D Miyatake in Clarion. Daniels will give a talk in Japanese for attendees before leaving for Salt Lake City to sail again for the Orient to resume missionary duties.
