Local Breeder to Exhibit at Fourteenth National Ram Sale

Claud Michaelson of Southern Utah will exhibit 33 yearling tambouillet rams at the Salt Lake Union stock yards for the fourteenth annual national ram sale. The sale runs three days starting next Monday, ending August 29, with leading Gunnison Valley and Sanpete county flockmasters expected. The National Woolgrowers association hosts, with FP Ha genbarth leading attendees from across the U S and Canada. more than 2500 rams will be offered.

Written Applications Required for Utah Freshmen Enrollments

The University of Utah requires all high school graduates seeking admission to file credentials and a written application from the recorder's office. Applicants should submit at least one month before school opens. Freshmen report Sept 26. registration for others Sept 30. classes begin Oct 1 with autumn quarter ending Dec 21. The freshmen class last year was 1195 with an expected 1600 this year if trends hold.

Boy Hurt In Hay Derrick Accident At Salina

Earl Edwards, a four year old son of Attorney and Mrs C Edwards, suffered a badly lacerated left hand Friday morning last week when his hand was caught in a hay derrick pulley while watching workers. He refused anesthesia at the hospital and endured the pain. The injury is expected to heal after several weeks despite the boy and his father later fishing at Fish Lake and catching two fish within the measurement limits.

The Reaper reports no dynamiting at Fishlake after investigating claims in Salt Lake papers. Observed dead fish included silver salmon, brook and rainbow trout. flesh torn, bladders broken, deaths from blasts, not natural causes. Reylon Pickett, a year old son of Mr and Mrs Therron Pickett, fell from a load of hay tipping onto the ground Friday morning. He suffered a badly broken arm and was taken to Salina hospital for treatment in the absence of Dr Cy Tigan.

Former Mayor Visits Gunnison With Mrs Christiansen

Former Gunnison mayor Parley Christiansen and his wife arrive from their town on Tuesday evening. They plan visits to Gunnison Mayfield and Ephraim for three weeks. Professor Armon Williamsen presented a recital at the Christiansens home with fourteen students performing piano and violin pieces. Christianesen later served four nights with a tight-knit show.

Salina Defeats Gunnison to Move Up Standings

In Gunnison Park on Sunday Salina routed Gunnison 7 to 2 as errors and weak defense plagued the locals. The loss drops Gunnison to third in the Sanpete Nephi Salina league while Salina rises to second, with Salina pitcher Nyle Christensen limiting hits and Madson contributing a long two run homer for the visitors.

Entertain for Mothers by Gunnison Tiret Year Sewing Club

Members of the Tiret year sewing club in Gunnison entertained their mothers with an exhibit of members articles. County Agent C C Stott and Mrs J K Lewis served as judges awarding top work. Items will be shown at the county fair in Manti next month. The program featured invocations, songs by club members, talks by Mrs LaBriel Pickett and C C Stott, a piano solo by LaRue Pickett, a club work demonstration, and cake and punch served to mothers.

County Club Outing Proves Big Success

The fourth annual 4-H county outing at Pali sade park drew 410 members from seven clubs across Sanpete. A full day of registration, lunch, songs, and talks by County Agent C. O. Stott and Mrs. T. A. Pascoe highlighted a program with club stunts and prizewinners. Five clubs tied for first in attendance, earning a 451 club banner to be awarded later.

Attendance Law To Be Enforced In Gunnison Valley Schools

Gunnison Valley schools will enforce compulsory attendance for ages 6 to 18 starting with the new term on Monday September Y. Despite past lax compliance, the board will apply strict measures, though cases with logical reasons may be considered. Parents are urged to ensure every pupil attends. School buildings are ready, with new buses for Christianburg, Clarion, Axtell and Fayette. High school fees remain unchanged: Chemistry 2.50, Domestic Science 1.00, Domestic Art 1.00, Lockers 1.00, Biology 1.00, Shop 1.00, Physics 1.00.

Mrs. L. G. Anderson Recovering After Surgery

Mrs. L. G. Anderson rushed to Salt Lake two weeks ago for an appendicitis operation is reported to be regaining health rapidly. She will be released today and return home to Gunnison Saturday. Many friends are glad she has regained her former good health.

Utahs Fancy Cattle Top Greatest Market

A Utah bred and fed cattle consignment brought top Chicago market price of 17.00 per cwt on August 12 at the Chicago Union Stock Yards. L. E. Ellison of Layton sold four cars with sixteen head averaging 1487 pounds at 17.00, 1 1/2 head at 16.70 and the remaining thirty at 16.85 per cwt. Cattle were fed on barley, corn, alfalfa and syrup mix. The record price signals rapid progress in western cattle feeding for Chicago.
