In a nation joyful yet somber, families of service members react to Japan's surrender as peace returns after the longest war. Official word comes at 3 pm amid a chorus of bells and street celebrations while many mourn those who gave their lives to defeat the Axis and secure freedom.
Eleven Sanpete County men listed as registrants of Selective Service Local Board No QS Monti Ute are deemed acceptable by the Armed Forces and will report for active duty on August 10. Vance Fairview.
Mrs. Mitton Christianese will present a piano recital at the Guntinon ward chapel in B pum on August 1th. Ray V. Serena husband of Berry Nicleon Sorenson Antell died while on leave during World War II. He served with the occupation forces in Germany and was attached to the Tih Army with headquarters at Secordart. The report cites a War Department message received by the family on August 10th.
