Heavy rainfall, felt across Sevier county and surrounding regions, ended a long drought. Farmers, merchants, and residents report widespread benefits from soaking showers, easing alfalfa and crop prospects, refreshing ranges, and aiding gravel road work after delays.
Centerfield residents attend multiple weddings and family visits over a week. Chantivey Punk and Miss Althea Sorenson wed at the Manti temple, hosting a reception with thirty relatives. The newlyweds plan Centerfield as their home as Funk works in mercantile business.
Selig maps grand plans for the 1924 Sunpete county fair at Mall grounds opening a new exhibition building. Dairymen livestock men fruit growers and housewives expect strong displays while a large race card and entertainment features aim to surpass all previous county events. Residents urged to back the fair for a notable turnout.
Governor Chas Mabey and state road officials paid a brief Gunnison visit Sunday evening after a Richfield political conference. He conferred with Gunnison Republicans about the Salt Lake convention and then traveled on to Mt Pleasant Ephraim Manti Salina and Richfield during the southern Utah swing.
Utah Agricultural College offers a six month dairy manufacturing course in the fall and winter quarters next school year. Professors George B. Caine and Gustav Wilster announce the program designed for practical cheese and butter makers. It runs Sept 29 to March, with 16 credits in fall and 18 in winter.
Patrick T. Henry and T. Luivigson of Valdusia Mining conducted an on site inspection at Murgavale mine. Development work progresses steadily with reports of new tunnel discoveries while Salt Lake investors follow Henry on his visit.

Residents watched a high flying plane pass over Gunnison yesterday afternoon heading south toward a southern port. Observers used field glasses but could not identify markings or determine if it was a mail, passenger, or enforcement aircraft.
Registration for the general election will be held November 4 with dates August 19 30 and October 7 8 14 28 29. District No 1 registration at Albert Swain home with Swain as agent and district 2 at William Bardsley home with Lindy Bardsley in charge. Registration hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on listed dates. All qualified voters urged to register early.
Mrs Fletcher Peterson nee Mary Swalberg was honored at a miscellaneous shower hosted by Mrs E L Swalberg at her home. The event featured garden decor, piano selections by Stella Duffin visiting from New York City, and refreshments for about twenty five guests.
The Gunnson Sugar Co plans a 10000 ton capacity loading and reclaiming station at Ae Th AL Opristunson Howl Joad, south of Westview Clarion bridge. The plant will start operations by September 2 and cost about 2000, storing 10000 tons of beets with 6000 feet of rail. The project shifts beet transport from the west side to boost future acreage and benefit western growers.
Utah fair manager Wm D Sutton invites Ira T Jackson treasurer of the American Duroc Jersey Swine Breeders Association to judge swine at the Utah State Fair. Jackson from Ohio comes from the Montana State Fair and is regarded as the leading hog judge of 1923.
City officials in Gunnison warned pedestrians and motorists that riding bicycles on sidewalks on Main Street and nearby side streets is illegal and arrests will follow violators. The crackdown follows several near misses as riders, including children, use crowded sidewalks as speedways.
Black Hawk Indian war veteran Fieldered plans to leave for the soldiers home at Sawtell California for winter. He intends to attend the Grand State Camp Fire festivities in Provo this week before preparing for the August journey.
