Altheron Barlow Dies at 71 in Centerfield Funeral Saturday

Altheron Barlow 71 died Tuesday at Gunnison Valley Hospital after about three weeks illness. He was born February in Bountiful, Utah, married Mary Moss in the Sul Leke LDS Temple, and lived in Centerfield. Surviving are his widow, eight of nine children, three brothers and many grandchildren. Funeral services Saturday at 2 pm in the Centerfield Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Allen Frandsen presiding. Friends may call Friday evening at the family home.

Rites Honor Mrs Henningson at Gunnison Chapel

Funeral services were held July 29 in the Gunnison Chapel for Mrs Henningson, who died July 2 at her Gunnison home after a long illness. Bishop LaMar Larson led the program arranged by the family, with preludes, solos by Morris Higgins and others, remarks by Enoth Larson, and a burial at Gunnison cemetery with prayers by Charles Peterson of Sterling.

Mayfield Native Carl Thompson Dies at 77 in Salina

Carl Thompson, a Mayfield native born December 19, 1879, died July 27 at Salina Hospital from a heart ailment. Services were held at Salina Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Sammy Jorgensen presiding. He lived in La Hi na with wife Sophia Meister and leaves nieces and nephews. funeral rites included music by local quartet and prayers by Burling, Misleen, and Fants at Mayfield cemetery.

Gunnison City Finances Third Sign Welcoming Tourists

Gunnison City funds a third welcome sign to travelers, per George Laat of the Gunnison Merchants Association. The sign will be located on NY highway 00 just west of the cemetery road, financed by the city with labor from business members. previous signs on US Highway 90 South and North on Vinh 8 were paid for by the association.

Gunnison Riding Club Dominates District Meet Honors

Gunnison Riding Club captured top honors at the district meet held August 3 at the Sanpete County Fair Grounds. The event featured Gunnison, Mant, ML Plessant, and Meryni clubs with notable riders such as Brice Roberts and Alva Land earning multiple places in barrel racing, relay, and western events. Wallen L McMillen, a former Gunnison resident, died at his Salt Lake City home from a heart ailment. He was born in Fall Lake, Josef, in 1007, and lived in Gunnieon during infancy before his family moved to the capitol city. Sheep Vaccination Rule For Sanpete Shows
