Principal Bardsley and twelve student volunteers gathered first grade peas, with home economics students aiding in canning. The plan includes storing beans corn and tomatoes at the high school for future meals. Mrs George Francis departed for Marysvale to visit her daughter and family.

Gunnison residents will get higher monthly water allotments of 50 000 gallons during two months at the new lower rate of two and a half cents per thousand gallons. The city council announced informal pool opening set for Sunday August 11 with band music softball and swimming matches. Formal opening planned Friday August 16 with speeches and entertainment. Pool pricing announced for the rest of the season: children 50 to 75 cents depending on age, adults one dollar. season-ticket holders swim free.

Lack of Lights Causes Weekend Crash Near Sterling
Royal McKenna, visiting from elsewhere with four others, escaped serious injuries when his V-8 Ford collided with a trailer on the highway near Sterling. Blinded by oncoming headlight glare, McKenna failed to see the unlit trailer on the road and veered into the wreckage. The trailer was demolished and the truck’s lights were obscured, creating a hazardous scene on the highway.
