The last rites for Carl August Modeen, respected citizen, were held Friday at two o'clock in the Gunnison high school auditorium. Bishop H. Olsen led services as friends paid tribute. Speakers included Chas Rasmussen Nephi Anderson Jos Lar son and H. C. Olsen. Musical selections featured a double quartet under Chas Ferre and E L Swalberg. Floral offerings marked the esteem for Modeen before he was laid to rest in the city cemetery. Pallbearers were Axel and Andrew Modeen GC H Hart Elbert Modeen Rupert Bouvang and Elgin Bouvang.

Insurance payout to Emma Madsen from Penn Mutual
Mrs Emma Madsen received a 1013.62 check from Penn Mutual Life Insurance last Saturday for the late Andrew A Madsen. The policy issued about a year ago had only one premium paid. Sanpete county’s agent Mrs Alice Doke presented the check and noted her second-place award in a regional business contest earned her trips to California, the Pacific Northwest, and Philadelphia’s sesquicentennial celebration.

Arnold Couple Heads for Salt Lake for Health Consult

The Gunnison ward Beehive Girls and two beekeepers toured Palisade Park and Crystal Springs for a day of boating sight-seeing and a large luncheon. Relief Society Teachers Convention Brings 120 Members

Taken to Salt Lake for Treatment of Mrs. Leslie Kidman
Mrs. Leslie Kidman, once seriously ill at Mount Pleasant with care from her mother Mrs. J. C. Clyde, was taken to Salt Lake Tuesday morning for hospital treatment. An operation had been performed after she was brought to her mother’s home, with condition then serious. A gradual improvement began early this week and she was transported with her husband, Bishop Kidman.

One hundred twenty two citizens from Gunnison Manti Salt Lake Nephi Ephraim Manti and Mayfield gathered at Palisade park last Saturday for the Willardson family reunion in a day of greetings luncheon and an afternoon program. Mary Wilson wife of George Wilson a Gunnison resident since last June died at her home last Sunday morning after childbirth. Funeral services were held at the Relief Society hall with Laviel Pickett officiating. Born at Grace Idaho in March she was twenty years old and survived by her husband and one child. The family made many friends in Gunnison before her death and burial followed at the city cemetery.

June Metcalf, Gunnison city council member and stock circle figure, was endorsed by South Sanpete Republicans to fill the county commission vacancy after Joseph Christenson's death. She took oath and joined the board, with term running to January 1, 1927. Roy Edwards Completes Final Operation After Work Injury
Roy Edwards, injured last December at the Gunnison Sugar factory, returned home after four weeks in Salt Lake. He underwent the final operation to remove a bone plate from his leg, despite a twelve inch incision. Doctors expect rapid healing and soon no crutches.
