The South Sanpete Stake holds a two day quarterly conference in Gunnison starting Saturday at 10 am with an apostle, Seventies president, and officials from auxiliaries. Sessions cover Relief Society, MIA, primary, home life cooperation, and Sunday school work with sermons, music, and a visiting official address.

Rushing Work On Reservoir Dam
W F Holt of Imperial Valley fame visited Gunnison and Widstoe to inspect and finance irrigation work. About 30 Leams labor on the dam for Lake View Reservoir and Canal Co. concrete by Aug 10, earthwork to follow toward a mid November completion. The project will irrigate about 5 000 acres, with Widstoe valley having 40 000 to 50 000 acres awaiting wells. Payroll near 7000 dollars monthly. rail transport may come later to move crops, wool, and livestock to markets.

Big Street Parade to Highlight Logan Legion Convention
Logan will host the Fourth Annual American Legion convention September 21 to 23 with a huge historical street parade. Farewell for President of Local Presbyterian Society
Mrs. J. P. C. Norman and her husband will move permanently to Southern California. The Ladies Missionary Society hosted a farewell party with about fifty attendees, featuring a recitation by Mrs. R. H. Yardley, a talk by Mrs. M. L. France on Southern mountaineers, performances by the Light Bearers band, and refreshments. Attendees wished the Normans happiness and prosperity at their new home.

Relief society teachers of Centerfield ward and about 77 friends gathered at the Centerfield meeting house on Tuesday afternoon for a social. An afternoon program featured addresses by Mrs. N. L. Lund Brigham Jensen, readings by Minerva Jensen, a Tiano solo by Esther Lund, an ode to Relief Society teachers by Lillian Sorenson, and songs by Bee Hive Girls. After the program each teacher received a souvenir, followed by refreshments and piano selections by Esther Jund.

A heavy rain and hail storm moved north from Redmond through Centerfield to Mayfield causing severe damage to wheat and corn. Fields near Redmond saw light losses while Centerfield and White's Flats suffered substantial destruction from wind, hail, and torrential rain.

Logan Meeting Is Voted Big Success
The second annual encampment at Logan last week drew 2 005 attendees, with 61 from Sanpete. Anton Christensen and party from Centerfield praised the event as entertaining and educational, highlighting irrigation, soils, dairying and cheese making demonstrations. Governor Maybe urged action to aid farmers and reduce middleman exploitation. Christensen noted strong accommodations for children and meals, with his party returning to Centerfield Tuesday afternoon.

Mountain outing party returns from Twelve Mile canyon
