Carl Westlund Dies by Suicide in Gunnison Valley Home
Long time Gunnison valley resident Carl Westlund 70 died after taking poison at his home following months of ill health and domestic troubles. A Sweden native and farmer turned recluse he left for his cabin where he collapsed. passersby summoned aid but he died en route to life. Survived by daughter Mrs Nettle Peterson and three sons Wilford Leonard and Alfred, service held at his home with Bishop Swalberg in charge. Funeral at the city cemetery followed.

The home of J. H. Ferre on North First West street was nearly destroyed by a fire between 12 and 1 am Tuesday. Losses reach about 8000 dollars with 2800 dollars insured. seven rooms were affected, kitchen and other rooms ruined, two front rooms saved. Volunteers fought the blaze with a bucket brigade and city hose after a delayed connection to a fire plug. The Ferres suspect faulty wiring or spontaneous combustion and urge a proper fire alarm system and volunteer department.

Lightless Car and Buggy Collision Near Centerfield
