The Greybull Tribune runs a seven week drive to win over 1900 in prizes including a Chevrolet Sedan, piano, and Chippendale phonograph. Readers visit prize displays, entrants gather orders, and contestants race to gather 1500 bona fide subscribers with votes awarded per subscription.
Flag day observances planned in Greybull feature a 7 30 p m program at the Big Horn theatre conducted by the B P O Elks Includes music patriotic songs prayers readings and a patriotic address with participation by officers members and guests
A fable about Carl Allison and his dog the Cash Hound who loves money and chews coins. Tom Breaky tosses a dollar and the dog swallows it after reading an ad about savings. The tale ends with the moral that money is not edible but can boost live stock value.
Miss Marion L. Ochsner of Cook County Illinois and Royal W. Smith of Cowley were married Saturday night at the Baptist parsonage with Rev. Wm. Jackson officiating. The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wilcox of Cowley. They returned to Cowley Sunday to make their home.
For two weeks the Salvation Army hall has hosted nightly special meetings with large turnouts. Last Saturday's program featured Mr. and Mrs. W F Gibson and Billy Jones, drawing a full crowd and turning some people away. Capt Wells plans to host D A Ray of Miles City for a one to two week visit around June 1 for further services. He also asks for old chairs to support the gatherings.
Mrs Nettie La Plante of Frannie arrived on Wednesday for a short visit with Mr and Mrs Harry Schaffer.
Greybull High School held its class night in the high school auditorium on a Wednesday evening at 8. The program featured an orchestra, an oratorical award to Maurice Tallon, piano solo by Olga Kirk, class prophecies and poems by named seniors, a class history and will, a class song, and a adopted motto The Road to Power Lies Through Service The 1922 class lists Marie Mayer Marian Spencer Martha Austin Lucille Davis Olga Kirk Anna Austin Martha Preis Lorene Hanes Frank Emery Tyler Straley Willis Smith Francis LaNoue and Cecil Jain.
John Alderdice wowed spectators at Manderson grading camp with a bareback riding display on a high spirited horse. He rode without saddle or bridle, dodging saplings as he clung to the mane. He suffered facial scratches but plans to join the circus for road exhibitions.
Mrs. Sarah Hill, Greybull first grade teacher for eleven years, met C. L. Towne, an Omaha furniture representative, during lunch at Griffin Inn. Towne, now about 87, was Hill’s first Hebron Neb. pupil. Hill, 72, has taught 89 years and plans another year in Greybull. She lives with her son Ross Hill and remains active in the community.
Mrs L CC Thompson and her daughter returned to their Worland home on Wednesday after a brief stay visiting friends in Greybull.
H. M. Lockhard and B. L. Warren of the refinery returned Tuesday from Casper where they attended a meeting of Standard officials.
About 100 farmers from Greybull Basin and surrounding areas gathered in Burlington to back a proposed 20 mile rail link from Greybull to Burlington. Three petitions urged the railroad to include the line without donation while proposing an $8,000 reservoir to aid regional transport. After the meet, Greybull Reservoir trustees held a landowner vote on issuing bonds at 90 cents to start the reservoir, with 59 voting for immediate construction and 9 against.
Miss Lucille Pritchett of Greybull Wyoming announces her candidacy in the Greybull Tribune prize circulation campaign. She vows to work faithfully through the campaign and thanks friends for nominations and encouragement.
John R Engle Sr hosted a Sunday christening for two grandchildren. Rev E T Ferry led the baptism for Joan Elizabeth and John Leander with family attendance including Mr. and Mrs. Engle Jr and Mr. and Mrs. Haywood. A generous dinner followed the ceremony.
The Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce forms a twelve member committee to urge city commissioners to institute paving within a year. Work may be delayed by summer and fall storm sewer projects in the business district, leaving Cheyenne one of the few Rocky Mountain cities of its size without paving and the only unpaved state capital.
Chas Shirran owner of the Ideal pool hall ordered a radiophone to be placed in the dance pavilion and used in his pool hall. The set has been delayed but will provide dance music and receive concert broadcasts from big cities when available.
Mike Coyne of the C B and Q suffered severe burns to his neck ears and face when opening the fire box door last Saturday night. The fire had gone out and oil ignited hitting him with force and throwing him against the tank. He is back to work this week.
Telegram from Senator John B. Kendrick reports the Interstate Commerce Commission canceled the expiration of a twenty percent freight rate cut for livestock over fifty cents per hundred and made the reduction permanent beyond June 30. Kendrick says his appeal to extend the rate was successful and gratifying.
Memorial Day observances set for Tuesday May 30 at the Grand Theatre at 10 a m. The public is invited to assemble for a patriotic program led by the American Legion featuring musical selections and an address honoring American soldiers. Officials expect a large turnout.
Allison and Shotwell won the contract for excavation and basement work on the Salvation Army building with supervision by D. J. Blanchard. Plumbing and construction contracts are pending, with a decision pending on brick versus cement exterior.
