Capper bill advances stock and farmer credit relief

The Capper measure to aid livestock and agricultural credit passed the Senate. It creates machinery to rediscount nine month livestock and agricultural paper and issues three year debentures backed by collateral. It also lowers Federal Reserve membership capital and expands Land Bank lending limits to twenty five thousand dollars. Senator Kendrick led the bill’s passage and defended its details as stabilizing farm credit without new appropriations.

Canyon Road Nears July Opening on Wind River Route

The Yellowstone highway through Wind River canyon south of Thermopolis is expected to be trafficable by July 1, according to Supt. Frank Burek of the Utah Construction Co. The Black tunnel at Boysen nears completion with full bore achieved January 7 and full arch height due by February 10. Two more tunnels will start as grading and rock work continue, with road surfacing advancing to accommodate double-track traffic. The canyon road, about 24 feet wide with gentle grades, will offer scenic views and spur resort sites, drawing pleasure seekers to central Wyoming. Thermopolis Record.

Sheriff Breaks Up Sunday Morning Party

Sheriff J L McMillan and Under sheriffs F C Webb and Geo Call raided a house near Salvation Army HQ at 3 30 Sunday morning detaining landlady Mrs James McIntyre and C A Brooks amid a quarrel with Joan Laird and A E Carey in an adjoining room. Charges included running a disorderly house adultery liquor without a permit and inebriated obstreperous. Carey and McIntyre bound over to district court, Laird changed venue to Justice Bonwell, Brooks paid a $25 fine and costs.
