27th Indiana Regimental Reunion Details Preserve Heritage

Lawrenceburg hosted the Thirty-seventh Indiana Regimental Association in August 1910 with the Eighty-third gathering planned for Batesville. The event featured tributes, speeches, songs, and a campfire as veterans recalled Civil War service and national patriotism.

Greensburg Republican club forms at Temperance Hall

A Young Men’s Republican Club organized March 19 in Temperance Hall with I G Grover named temporary president and G W Rhiver as secretary. New officers elected include Grover as president and Rhiver as corresponding secretary. Will Cumback spoke. VanBuskirk preached at the Christian Church. numerous local meetings, fires, and civic actions noted through 1872 with town growth and political activity.

Postmaster Jackson Reelected President of Indiana League

Postmaster John L. Jackson of St Paul was reelected president of the Indiana Association of Fourth-Class Postmasters at Indianapolis and named a delegate at large to the National Convention. He noted the league’s 473 members, up 264 from the previous year, and urged building the league to improve postal service and education. He also proposed rural carrier appointment reforms. Dale Cole of Aurora, son of the late Seymour Cole, visited with Samuel L. Jackson. Cole, a Purdue graduate, has been elected to a Cornell professorship.
