Former resident falls. Mrs Julia Craig sustains hip injury
Mrs Julia Craig of Macedonia Iowa, widow of Dr John Craig who practiced in Milford and Hartsville in the 1860s, fell early morning and lay undiscovered until about 8 o clock. She was taken to a hospital and is the aunt of Mrs W F Gilchrist.

Death of Col R J Bright, Former Indiana Politician
The Indianapolis Star reports Col. R. J. Bright died in Washington D C at 87 after months of ill health. A former sergeant at arms of the U S Senate and once owner of the Indianapolis Sentinel, Bright was born in Madison Indiana. He moved to Washington in the 1880s and is survived by three children. Funeral services will be held Friday.

News office received two large sweet potatoes from the county infirmary farm, one pink and one yellow, weighing about nine and a half pounds. Captive Snake Fights Rat in Barbershop Window
A black snake captured days earlier by Philip Scripture in Baumgartner and Taylor’s barbershop box fought a live rat placed inside the same box. The snake dominated the fight, ending the spectacle after several minutes as a large crowd watched through the plate glass window.

Presence of mind saves occupants after auto truck overturns
John Ricketts driving a wood loaded Federal Auto truck near the Ed Helmich home last night ditched the vehicle to avoid a collision with a horse drawn buggy carrying a woman and two children. The crash left the truck on its side but no injuries occurred and only minor damage was done to the buggy.

Suffered Severe Toe Loss in Farm Accident North of Town
John Eineman of the Carlos Harrison farm north of town suffered the loss of four toes last Monday while helping to fill a silo for Joe Burrows. His foot was caught by a corn stalk, the knife cut through the shoe, and the toes were amputated. He is resting well today.
