Arthur Parkson returned to St. Paul and surrendered on Friday after attacking David Louden with a knife in a recent fight. He appeared at a Saturday preliminary hearing, pleaded guilty to assault and battery, and was bound over to the circuit court.
Friday morning as the west bound passenger train pulled from the yards in this city, brakeman J. C. Lewis on an extra freight stepped in front of the moving engine and was hurled about fifteen feet from the track. He was found unconscious in the telegraph office at the Y and later sent to his Indianapolis home with not serious injuries but multiple bruises.
Women in the county plan to form a Daughters of the American Revolution chapter led by Mrs. E. C. Stimson and Mrs. J. H Alexander. Twelve members are needed, and many local women with Continental Army ancestry may join, with names reported to the two organizers.
Shelbyville officials publish names of alleged habitual drinkers to hold saloons and druggists liable for selling to those on the list. The accused deny the charge and circulate a counter list while threatening libel suits. A quoted figure ends the fragment with taunt and challenge.

Louis Stout a Greensburg native working in Indianapolis loses his suitcase at Union Station while waiting for a train to Greensburg. The bag contained clothes worth about fifteen dollars and was stolen as he watched passengers pass by. He traveled home to Greensburg after the incident.
County commissioners accepted the Middle Branch pike after hearing remonstrators and contractor Charles White last week. A personal inspection was conducted Saturday and the project was approved, ending the controversy.
City schools were dismissed Wednesday afternoon, providing a long vacation until Monday morning. Teachers and pupils will enjoy time off to give thanks under their own vine and fir tree, with some teachers and high school scholars residing at a distance.

Federal Grand Jury indicts P. E. Fitzgerald of Indianapolis for use of the mails to defraud. He allegedly bought eight thousand acres in southern Georgia, took stock subscriptions, failed to deliver on promises, and profits of 335,000 remained unaccounted for by an unincorporated company.
At the Grand Lodge meeting in Indianapolis last week it was decided to erect a fourteen story building on the site of the present one at Pennsylvania and Washington streets. Plans for financing, additional ground purchase if needed, and contract for the excavation will be pursued. Grand Master R H W Hollywood will appoint a five member building committee to work with grand trustees on the project.
