A Burney Indiana lodge notes the death of James Hiner, member of R. of P. No. 341. The resolution honors his faithful work, expresses sympathy to his family, and sets a mourning drape for Castle Hall. A committee will deliver copies to the family and members.
Mrs Frank S Roby hosted a large afternoon reception on North New Jersey street honoring Mrs David Myers of Greensburg wife of an Appellate Court judge. Chrysanthemums ferns palms decorated rooms with pink white and yellow themes while a harpist provided music and young guests circulated at the punch bowl.
George W. Rohrs, longtime mill owner and stockholder in Greensburg National Bank, died at his Millhousen home at noon Monday aged 63. Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church in Napoleon. A Republican, he was known for fair dealings and strong community leadership.
Rev. James B. Lathrop, born November 24 1825, celebrated his eighty second birthday with a family dinner at his North Franklin street home. The long time preacher merchant and banker, now president of Citizens Bank, is noted as the oldest native of the city and enjoys remarkable health.
The St Paul Telegram reports next year the Big Four will press ahead with double-tracking from Indianapolis to Cincinnati. Crews reached Prescott east and Batesville west. work will shift to St Paul with possible track elevation to beautify Washington street. The Flatrock bridge will be raised and widened, signaling a busier St Paul.

Frank Robison formerly of Greensburg has located in Frankfort and will open a modern optical store with Mrs. Ragsdale on the east side of the square. An attendant graduate of the Northern Illinois College of Ophthalmology and Otology in Chicago he recently passed the state optometry examination with high praise from a state board member.
In Morristown Charley the white driving horse died in the early hours at the home of W A Bodine. The aged animal lived thirty three years and had been owned by Bodine for twenty seven years after a year with Ed Tyner in a livery barn. The community notes Charley's remarkable longevity as a result of kind care from Bodine.
Ex County Commissioner Jethro C Meek hosted a Social for the Christian Union Society at his Clinton township home. Over 100 local youth and some older residents attended a program of tableaux and pantomimes accompanied by a German Band. The event was praised as a social high point with warm wishes for the host.
Saturday night a fertilizer plant owned by Charles E. St. John four miles southeast of town caught fire just before midnight. Neighbors alerted St. John and saved the nearby office building from the blaze, but the factory burned completely. Loss to the owner totals about 3000 dollars as insurers won’t cover such plants. rebuilding is possible.
A wild wolf escaped from Otto Land who had brought two wolves from North Dakota. The animal roamed and harmed poultry in Fountaintown, prompting a farmer posse and dog assistance to locate it. Town hall resolutions are expected to censure Land at Saturday’s meeting.
Misses Bertha Kramer and Della Walke of Batesville pleaded guilty before Judge Thompson to disobeying a subpoena. Each was fined ten dollars and costs. The judge noted potential jail time but showed leniency due to their confession while warning that future violations could bring a $500 fine and imprisonment. The case relates to testimony about the September grand jury investigation into the stoning of Prosecutor J. W. Davis.
Dr. Henry Moore of Irvington visited Laurel and considered a hospital site here. He toured lower Franklin sites with real estate agents and said Laurel still has a strong chance, with four sites in contention including near Rockville Spencer and Greencastle. A commission and Governor Hanly were to visit Laurel in a few days, possibly after Thanksgiving.
Pastor Rev S A Morrow has energized Waldron M E church with 150 in Sunday school after 100 invitations. A Girls class banner marked the day as the largest contribution, and his sermons on the home nation and a later lecture on Tom Dick and Harry drew large crowds.
Thomas Terrill sued Township Trustee Frank Deem to force a conveyance for his two children. The Terrill youngsters moved from Middle Branch to McCoy school after the former closed, with plans for part walking and part riding depending on road conditions. The trustee insisted on full bus service regardless of weather, resolving the dispute.
Ruth Riddinger celebrated her ninth birthday with a afternoon party hosted by Sheriff and Mrs. Riddinger. About forty friends attended the games and luncheon, making the event memorable for the birthday girl and her guests.
J G Robbins and Sons will bring two car loads of prize winning Shorthorns to the International Stock Show in Chicago next week. They are expected to win a large share of honors as in past years.
