The jury convicted Charlew Suttles of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Robert Weaver. He faces a penalty of two to fourteen years in the State reformatory at Jeffersonville.
A telegram to M F Parsons from L Newkirk of Port Byron N Y says a man was killed on the railroad there and bears the name R H Myres on his collar. The deceased carried an order signed by W K Parker dated October 10 1900 in Greensburg Ind. Parsons arranged a photo of the dead man. Some believe the victim may be Kelly Parker son of Dr J W Parker of Adams.
The Louisville Courier-Journal once called William J. Bryan a dishonest dodger and boy orator. Now it offers no harsh commentary on his latest Louisville speech, though it subtly endorses his candidacy.
Friday night warm and pleasant in the courthouse park hosted a Republican gathering with Capt Will E English of Indianapolis as speaker. English, son of the late William H English, pressed Republican themes while recounting his Civil War service and opposition to imperialism. a crowd of about 1500 responded as Nathan Powell and M D Tackett also spoke, the latter critiquing the Democratic administration.
