Death of William H. Pumphrey Pioneer Clay Township resident
William H. Pumphrey, born in Kentucky on December 4, 1827, died Sunday at his Burney home after a long life as a farmer and merchant. He leaves a widow and eight children from a former wife. Funeral services were held at the Burney M. E. church with burial in Pumphrey cemetery.

Not Dead as Supposed Guardian Reconciles $200 to Ward
Capt William H Aikin of Hope Indiana asked to relieve as guardian of Guy McHose after believing him dead. McHose reappeared in Columbus Indiana to claim about $200, once kept in trust. McHose had been last heard from ten years ago and was living near Columbus Ohio when the guardian paid the money into court. He identified himself and received the funds.
