K P Memorial Service Noted for Greensburg Lodge

Greensburg Lodge No. 148 K P held its annual memorial at the opera house Sunday afternoon at 2 30. Judge John M Lewis spoke praising the Knights and their duties and honoring fallen brothers while noting the organization’s long history since 1886 and recent deaths.

Large cattle sale to Greensburg firm from Greensburg region

A. R. Fisner sold fifty head of fat cattle to Harrison and Sefton of Greensburg at 5.75 per hundred, averaging 1,420 pounds. The lot was praised as the finest raised locally and shipped to Greensburg this afternoon. Frank McCallie of Newbern sold twenty head of finished cattle to the same firm at the same price, averaging about 3,200 pounds with a 1,700 pound steer among them.

Reunion of Franklin College Class of 1861 Scheduled

Surviving members of the 1861 Franklin college graduating class will meet in this city on Saturday June 17. Participants include Dr W T Stott and William H McCoy of this city, Judge G W Grubbs of Martinsville, and Dr B F Atkins of Medford Oregon. Deceased members Rev J W Potter and Gen J T Morgan died in 1902.

Taxables Show Countywide Tax Increase Except Two Townships

Assessors report rising taxables across most areas with Washington township seeing the largest jump as land values rise. Figures may shift modestly after the Board of Review but remain near stated totals. Greensburg and Millhousen show no increase. Indiana Woman Dies in Girard Automobile Crash

Mrs. J. H. Wayland wife of the Appeal to Reason editor died from injuries after an auto accident near Girard Kansas. The party included her husband two children and Mrs. Clements of Indiana. The steering gear failed the car struck a telephone pole and veered into a ditch. Mrs Wayland suffered a fatal skull fracture and died shortly after. Mr Wayland once resided in Greensburg and published the Coming Nation.
