Monday the new $100000 high school building on West Walnut opened to students and teachers. Eleven teachers and 210 students attended as the school spirit ran high, marking the start of a hard grind ahead for the Greensburg community.
Harvey K Smiley longtime county resident died Friday evening at his brother Will Smiley’s West First Street home. Coroner West reported the body found in an out house by the brother upon return from town. Funeral held Sunday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev J W Clevenger. Smiley born 1844 in Clay Township and married Sarilda Robbins February 11 1869. survived by seven children Everett Gassius and others, three brothers Knox Will Solomon, two sisters Caroline Sefton and another unnamed sister.
Milford welcomes Dr Barton Fitzpatrick as a new physician. Many friends mourn the death of Rebecca Jane Benson Thomas at her daughter Mrs. Mattie Kneale’s home in Anderson on January 2 at age eighty two. She was married to contractor William Thomas in April 1867 and the couple moved to Anderson about twenty two years ago.
Officers were elected Monday night at the home of eRe Moofort. G E Erdivisio is president with Mrs F P Montfort as vice president and Miss Margaret Drake as gentary. GC W Woodward and Mrs T Fy Meek serve as general secretary and others named as directors including BF Russell, Robert St John, Mrs W E Hamilton, I Carl Mitchell, and Harry Listhrop. Township Trustee C B Williams becomes an honorary member to support the new year pledges.
