The S. and C. traction line reports strong patronage with first day ticket sales of 367.25 and additional cash fares from un-ticketed boarders. Receipts show an upward trend, with Saturday at 84.90 and Sunday at 80.30.

William L. Miller of North Broadway, long plagued by grip, became dizzy upon waking last Friday and fell onto a lounge, fracturing two ribs on his right side. He remains seriously ill but is holding his own and hopes to recover soon.
The keys to Kirby Bros prize money box were held by Helen Doles and Eliza J. Crisler. Helen Doles first unlocked the box with key fifty two, claiming two thirds of the cash amounting to fourteen dollars. Crisler then used the next key to win the remaining one third, seven dollars.
The Elks held a Friday evening social at the hall for members wives and sweethearts. Sixty couples attended a six o'clock dinner followed by a Troubadour Amusement Co program of music and readings. The event included dancing and euchre.
Daniel Boone Thorpe, recently divorced by Judge Sparks, was unsettled by news his wife married in Greensburg yesterday. He argues the court stated they would be remarried after two years without ceremony, and vows to pursue legal action if true while affirming his ongoing love and intention to keep his “boone” companion.

The Shelbyville Morning News hails Shelby county Indiana for producing many gifted residents and notes Charles Petitt of Hand & Son has written a song accepted for publication by Jaberg Music Co. The piece titled The Sweetest Girl My Heart Has Ever Known honors his wife, a Decatur county native, with local credit claimed by the paper.
Chicago dispatched reports that the three Walsh railroads the Southern Indiana Chicago Southern and Illinois Southern were sold to Vanderbilt interests for about 24 million. Walsh would net around 6 million after settling bank debts with notes accepted by banks, with 36 million gross proceeds offset by stockholders and indebtedness. Edward C. Ritscher led the deal, surprising railroad circles as bids from Philadelphia rivals had been around 22 million.
Edward Lewis a Campbell construction company teamster was killed on the railroad track near Smiths Crossing before midnight last Friday. Identified by George Campbell timekeeper he had drawn wages Friday and was seen drinking in Newpoint that evening. He left for the camp at eight o'clock and his body was found by Mr Campbell on returning to the camp around midnight. The death is believed to be caused by being overcome by liquor and falling on the track then run over by a train. Lewis from Pittsburgh home, twenty six, spoke of brother Harry a civil engineer in Pittsburgh and a sister at a college in the east. Remains moved to Schultz's in this city then buried in South Park cemetery Tuesday afternoon after no word from relatives.
A Greensburg group of sixty rode the 5:43 car to the Shelbyville Opera House to see York State Folks. Motor man Harry Braden and Conductor Arba Elkins led the outing with the 11:00 car delayed thirty minutes for the crowd. Managers and locals praise Henry Friday for welcoming Greensburg patrons.
Fire started Sunday evening in the store room of the John E. Robbins ice plant, with all workers away at six. Doors were locked and firefighters had to break in to reach the flames. Building damage was slight, machinery loss about 1500 dollars, fully insured.
Mrs Walter Ridout of Forsyth street suffered a painful injury at Elder skating rink on Saturday morning when she fell and fractured a bone near her right wrist.
Cal Wright, a young man from rural districts, says he lost a pocket book in the Spider Welch saloon on Railroad street Saturday. The purse contained twelve dollars. Wright reports it was stolen. Saloon employees suspect a group of men in the saloon may be responsible.
Deputy Prosecutor Hamilton and officers Dickey and Robbins visited Thomas Robbins saloon at Broadway and Railroad streets Saturday night about eleven in search of a gambling game. They found only a sociable three man game of hearts a quiet friendly pastime to pass the time amid dull care.
The Christian Church held its annual Roll Call with a 10 a.m. service and Lord's Supper. Past pastors shared letters from former ministers and guests attended despite the cold. One confession of faith occurred as Pastor James Mailley preached, and churchwide finances for 1906 totaled 2770.10 with receipts across departments including general expenses 1888.48 and missions 280.00.
