The Cecilians enjoyed a social meeting at the Misses Cline home with a Della Mount led musical program. Joseph Alexander nursed an injured foot after a wagon unloading accident. D.C. and W. A. Williams of Sandusky buy Fenley elevators and will expand grain trade. Ticket sales at the Big Four station rose significantly in 1899, prompting talk of a new passenger depot. Mrs. James Zoller and son visit Richmond while Mr. Zoller expands in steam, heat and plumbing. James Zoller is noted as a dynamic local businessman.
In Rushville, the Kennedy estate dispute over Archibald M Kennedy filings saw Judge McCullough sustain the exceptor Mrs. Sarah M Kennedy after her death. Robert Nagel took over as administrator. The court set the post 1890 property charge at 2909.19 and reduced erroneous credits by 927,831, leaving a correct credit of 1,011.19 and property totaling 1,898 for one third to the exceptor, with a new trial likely.
The firm Zoller Minear Reiter changed last week with Reiter retiring from clothing and gents furnishings. The new firm includes S. P. Minear and Louis Zoller forming S. P. Minear & Co. They plan to remodel their large business block in spring and expect continued success noted by friends and patrons. Minear will depart for wholesale markets tomorrow.
Gen Thaddeus H Stanton former Paymaster General of the U S Army died Tuesday afternoon at Omaha Nebraska from a complication of liver and stomach troubles after a long illness He was born in 1834 in Walker township Rush County and linked to pioneer days on the plains He served with Gen Jim Lane in Kansas transitions to Iowa politics and the Civil War as Captain in the 19th Wisconsin later becoming Chief Paymaster of the department until 1870 in Richmond He then served in the West continuing his military career.
