Frank C Hazelrigg in Old Mexico sends a postal card showing a bull fight scene with a matador waving a red flag and a packed amphitheater. He notes Antonio Montes, famed matador, and mentions crowds at two events on January 13 and January 20.
In the best amateur couple of skaters contest at the Elder rink on Friday evening Miss Hazel Lawson and Roy Hyatt won prizes a pair of roller skates each.
The city will have its sewerage system inspected by engineer William B. Ewing who drew the plans. Mayor Thomson and council members join Ewing and contractor Alex Porter in the inspection run, with nineteen miles of sewer to review over several days.
Thief entered Duffey grocery on the south side of the square Sunday afternoon by prying the back door lintel and lifting the cross bar. At six o'clock the cash register was found broken and about 24 dollars in change plus a twelve pound tobacco caddy were missing, with other items likely gone.
William Toothman died at his Adams home Friday night around nine from heart failure. A Civil War veteran of Co. D Seventh Indiana, he later served as jailer under Sheriff John W. Stout. Survived by his widow, son Arthur Toothman, and daughter Mrs. George Fraley of Terre Haute, his funeral was held Monday afternoon in Adams.
Hamilton Bros call on tomato growers for Greensburg Canning Factory to sign contracts at 379 North Michigan Avenue by February 10. They must confirm plans by February 15 and will pay 87.50 per ton, offer crate use, and provide tomato setting machines free.

The Knights of Pythias districts of Johnson Bart hholomew Shelby and Decatur counties meet in Shelbyville on February 19 to award prizes for ritual work with Greensburg lodge competing. Attorney John W. Craig delivers an address and Marsh Thomas Charles Williams Harry Mount and Dwight Murphy assist with the musical program.
The first car on the traction line arrived Friday January 25 at six o'clock in front of the terminal on East Main Street. A special train leaving Shelbyville at 1:20 p.m. carried employees and an emergency crew. It faced a derailment at St Paul due to a misplaced switch, fixed by a restart, but reached its destination safely and drew widespread cheers.
James S. Gaston was appointed Saturday by County Auditor Frank E. Ryan to fill the Jackson Township assessor vacancy caused by Fred Denham's resignation. The appointment is praised as an excellent choice, citing Gaston's clerical ability business experience and sound judgment, with expectations of diligent service to residents.

Greensburg Lodge No. 148 appoints Guy Guthrie J Rhodes Bert Morgan E L Moore and Vernon Moore to arrange a roll call meeting. The event is set for Thursday evening February 14 at the hall and is expected to be an interesting affair.
Electric cars started running on schedule Monday from 5 a m to 11 pm with smooth road bed and high patronage. Westbound one o clock trip was crowded with over forty passengers to Shelbyville and Indianapolis. Rates shown include eighty cents to Indianapolis and thirty five to Shelbyville. Stops in Greensburg include Franklin Broadway Ireland Carver and city limits. Cars are up to date well upholstered heated by hot water via coal stove in the motorman's cab.
The Greensburg Lodge of Elks hosts members wives and sweethearts with a 6 pm dinner followed by a concert by the Troubadours Orchestra featuring Emily Murray and a quartet: Michael Briglia Nichol Briglia Antonia Milano and Flice De Luca. After the concert a light pantomime and card party conclude the evening.
The Baptist Choral Society will be reorganized under the directorship of Prof Forrest Edmeads this evening. Edmeads previously led the group last year delivering satisfactory results in training and services at the Baptist church. He is praised for both vocal skill and teaching talent.
Two Greensburg boys won the Star Chick Contest with Bernice Shields taking third prize of five dollars. Shields, aged 14, lives at 401 West Washington Street and attends the city high school in his first year. The other winner on the roll of honor is Lewis Moss, aged nine, son of Joe Moss the local druggist. The contest success fills the winners with pride.
